The Return (Symbols)
Water -> reflects the mood. When there is tension it rains. When it is calm it is not raining. Rain = cleansing, purifying
Shoes -> The kid becoming the father
Towers -> Courage. He didn’t jump at the beginning and he didn’t fall at the end. However, he always stands up to the father so is he really a coward? Is the brother really brave or a coward?
Knife -> power. Trying to overtake his father
Camera -> memories -> they didn’t have any of the father.
Symmetry -> Lots of shots with “splitting.” Both sides
Fish -> Baptism, fish are forever because if you flip the Christianity fish symbol it is an infinite sign, Jesus Christ
Hunger
Sinking -> The father’s bowl sinking. In the end he sinks with all his belongings (including his time capsule -> he sunk with his whole life)
Landscape shots with the three -> made to make them look small
Religion -> there are three wise men and the holy trinity.
Running scene -> the dad wanted Ivans approval and the Adrei wanted the dads approval as they chased each other
